Work-related burnout syndrome in special education teachers working with children with developmental disorders - possible correlations with some socio-demographic aspects and assertiveness

AB  - The aim of this research was to examine the levels of burnout syndrome dimensions in special education teachers and correlations with some socio-demographic characteristics, job characteristics, and levels of assertiveness. The research included 225 special education teachers from Serbia (82% were women, 18% were men, with the average age of 42.51 +/- 9.23 years). Research instruments included Maslach Burnout Inventory, Rathus Assertiveness Schedule, and a socio-demographic questionnaire. There were differences in all burnout dimensions in relation to types of students' special needs. Higher levels of burnout symptoms were observed in teachers working with children with motor skill disorders. The assertiveness scores had a significant negative correlation with emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation, and a positive correlation with a lack of accomplishment. The results obtained may help in the planning of the adequate preventative measures for improving the mental health of those professionals.

How services for children with disabilities in Serbia affect the quality of life of their families

AB  - Background: Families that have children with disabilities face numerous difficulties related to the lack of services support, social isolation and poverty in Serbia. Mostly due to the prolonged effect of social and economic crisis, there are insufficient adequate and diverse community-based services for those families. Aims: The aim of the study was to examine the effect of newly introduced services on the quality of families' life. Methods: A pretest/posttest study was conducted at the beginning of service and one year later to evaluate the effect of services measured by Family Quality of Life Scale (Hoffman et al., 2006). The sample consists of 153 families of children with disabilities from 35 different places in Serbia. Results: The results show that the services generally improved the families' quality of life, particularly in the aspects targeted by services, but also had significant positive effect on family interaction and parenting The services had the highest impact on the families that perceived the lowest life quality before using them. The life quality was improved, regardless of the type of services, but the effectiveness is affected by the severity of child disability. Implications: The results might be useful for further steps in developing and evaluating individually and flexible tailored service that support families' needs and suits them the best.

Monitoring the outcomes of the implementation of diversion measures for children in conflict with law

AB  - The paper presents the results of qualitative research aimed to analyze the process and content of the implementation of diversion measures for children in conflict with law. The survey was conducted to include views of participants in future practice improvement. The data were collected by 44 semi-structured interviews of 22 young persons referred to diversion measures in Serbia and 22 their parents from Belgrade, Nis, Novi Sad and Kragujevac. The interviews included various relevant aspects of service implementation such as: reason and a way of inclusion of the youth into the measures, their motivation for accepting it, their participation, the individualization of services, involvement of parents, the experience of purposefulness and content of the service from young persons' perspective, the quality of relationships with the service provider etc. Conclusions based on the content analysis were that diversion measures achieve positive effects, while assessment of their sustainability needs further research. Some recommendations for further improvement of the process of implementation of diversion measures in the practice were proposed.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati kvalitativnog istraživanja sprovedenog u cilju analize procesa i sadržaja sprovođenja vaspitnih naloga. Istraživanje je sprovedeno kako bi se stavovi korisnika i pružaoca usluga uključili u dalje unapređenje ove prakse. Podaci su prikupljani na osnovu 44 polu-strukturisana intervjua kojim su obuhvaćene 22 mlade osobe, upućene na ispunjenje vaspitnog naloga, i 22 njihova roditelja iz Beograda, Novog Sada, Niša i Kragujevca. Intervjui su obuhvatali različite relevantne aspekte procesa realizacije vaspitnih naloga: razlog i način uključivanja mladih u naloge, njihova motivacija za prihvatanje naloga, participativnost, individualizaciju pristupa, doživljaj svrsishodnosti i sadržaja tretmana iz perspektive mlade osobe, kvalitet odnosa sa pružaocem usluga isl. Na osnovu analize sadržaja, zaključuje se da su vaspitni nalozi veoma dobro prihvaćeni od strane mladih i roditelja i da postižu pozitivne efekte, čije trajnije efekte tek treba sagledati u budućnosti. Date su preporuke za dalje unapređenje procesa implementacije vaspitnih naloga u praksi.

AB  - Background/Aim. Adolescence is characterized both by a large developmental potential and by an increased risk for emergence of different forms of psychopathology. International classifications of mental disorders recognize the psychopathology of adolescence at the age of 15-18 through the categories of conduct disorders and some forms of addiction: chemical and non-chemical. The aim of this research was to analyse the personality structure among four groups of adolescents manifesting different types of conduct disorder based on Cloninger's Psychobiological theory of personality. Methods. The research sample consisted of 140 respondents at the age of 16-18, divided into five groups: 30 respondents manifesting socialized conduct disorder, 20 adolescents in conflict with the law, 30 respondents manifesting abuse of psychoactive substances, 30 respondents with the problem of the Internet addiction and 30 from general population. The Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory (BAPI) questionnaire was used for the purpose of assessment of personality. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), followed by univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine differences between the given groups of adolescents. Results. The results of MANOVA show differences in the personality structure among the groups, both in the dimensions of temperament, F (20,418.84) = 2.71, p  lt 0.001, Wilks's lambda 0.67, and in the dimensions of character, F (12,344.24) = 3.27,p  lt 0.001, Wilks's lambda is 0.75. Socialized conduct disorder is characterized by low self-directedness and average cooperativeness. Adolescents in conflict with the law have the lowest persistence, together with low self-directedness and cooperativeness. Adolescents abusing psychoactive substances have low harm avoidance and self-transcendence. Adolescents with Internet addiction are characterized by high novelty seeking (impulsivity and curiosity), low self-directedness and the lowest cooperativeness. Conclusion. The results show that the dimensions of personality can play an important role in etiopathogenesis of various disorders in adolescents.
AB  - Uvod/Cilj. Adolescenciju karakteriše veliki razvojni potencijal, ali i pojačani rizik od formiranja različitih vidova psihopatologije. Psihopatologiju adolescencije uzrasta od 15 do 18 godina, međunarodne klasifikacije mentalnih poremećaja prepoznaju kroz kategorije poremećaja ponašanja i neke vidove bolesti zavisnosti: hemijskih i nehemijskih. Cilj istraživanja bio je da se na osnovu Klonindžerove psihobiološke teorije ličnosti analizira struktura ličnosti kod četiri grupe adolescenata koji manifestuju različite oblike poremećaja ponašanja. Metode. Uzorak istraživanja sastojao se od 140 ispitanika uzrasta od 16 do 18 godina, podeljenih u pet grupa: 30 ispitanika koji su manifestovali socijalizovani poremećaj ponašanja, 20 adolescenata sa poremećajem ponašanja u sukobu sa zakonom, 30 ispitanika sa problemom zloupotrebe psihoaktivnih supstanci, 30 ispitanika sa problemom zavisnosti od interneta i 30 ispitanika kontrolne grupe. Za procenu strukture ličnosti korišćen je upitnik Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory (BAPI). Razlike između grupa adolescenata ispitane su multivarijatnom (MANOVA) i univarijatnom (ANOVA) analizom varijanse. Rezultati. Rezultati multivarijatne analize varijanse pokazuju da postoje razlike u strukturi ličnosti između svih grupa, kako na dimenzijama temperamenta, F(20,418.84) = 2.71,p  lt 0.001, Vilksova lambda 0,67, tako i na dimenzijama karaktera, F (12,344.24) = 3,27, p  lt 0,001, Vilksova lambda 0,75. Socijalizovani poremećaj ponašanja karakteriše niska samousmerenost, Ali prosečna kooperativnost. Adolescenti u sukobu sa zakonom imaju najnižu perzistenciju, kao i nisku samousmerenost i kooperativnost. Adolescenti koji zloupotrebljavaju psihoaktivne supstance imaju nisko izbegavanje štete i autotranscedenciju. Za adolescente sa internet zavisnošću karakteristična je visoka potraga za novinama (impulsivnost i radoznalost), niska samousmerenost i najniža kooperativnost. Zaključak. Rezultati ukazuju da dimenzije ličnosti mogu igrati značajnu ulogu u etiopatogenezi različitih poremećaja adolescenata.

abstract = "Background/Aim. Adolescence is characterized both by a large developmental potential and by an increased risk for emergence of different forms of psychopathology. International classifications of mental disorders recognize the psychopathology of adolescence at the age of 15-18 through the categories of conduct disorders and some forms of addiction: chemical and non-chemical. The aim of this research was to analyse the personality structure among four groups of adolescents manifesting different types of conduct disorder based on Cloninger's Psychobiological theory of personality. Methods. The research sample consisted of 140 respondents at the age of 16-18, divided into five groups: 30 respondents manifesting socialized conduct disorder, 20 adolescents in conflict with the law, 30 respondents manifesting abuse of psychoactive substances, 30 respondents with the problem of the Internet addiction and 30 from general population. The Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory (BAPI) questionnaire was used for the purpose of assessment of personality. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), followed by univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to examine differences between the given groups of adolescents. Results. The results of MANOVA show differences in the personality structure among the groups, both in the dimensions of temperament, F (20,418.84) = 2.71, p  lt 0.001, Wilks's lambda 0.67, and in the dimensions of character, F (12,344.24) = 3.27,p  lt 0.001, Wilks's lambda is 0.75. Socialized conduct disorder is characterized by low self-directedness and average cooperativeness. Adolescents in conflict with the law have the lowest persistence, together with low self-directedness and cooperativeness. Adolescents abusing psychoactive substances have low harm avoidance and self-transcendence. Adolescents with Internet addiction are characterized by high novelty seeking (impulsivity and curiosity), low self-directedness and the lowest cooperativeness. Conclusion. The results show that the dimensions of personality can play an important role in etiopathogenesis of various disorders in adolescents., Uvod/Cilj. Adolescenciju karakteriše veliki razvojni potencijal, ali i pojačani rizik od formiranja različitih vidova psihopatologije. Psihopatologiju adolescencije uzrasta od 15 do 18 godina, međunarodne klasifikacije mentalnih poremećaja prepoznaju kroz kategorije poremećaja ponašanja i neke vidove bolesti zavisnosti: hemijskih i nehemijskih. Cilj istraživanja bio je da se na osnovu Klonindžerove psihobiološke teorije ličnosti analizira struktura ličnosti kod četiri grupe adolescenata koji manifestuju različite oblike poremećaja ponašanja. Metode. Uzorak istraživanja sastojao se od 140 ispitanika uzrasta od 16 do 18 godina, podeljenih u pet grupa: 30 ispitanika koji su manifestovali socijalizovani poremećaj ponašanja, 20 adolescenata sa poremećajem ponašanja u sukobu sa zakonom, 30 ispitanika sa problemom zloupotrebe psihoaktivnih supstanci, 30 ispitanika sa problemom zavisnosti od interneta i 30 ispitanika kontrolne grupe. Structure and underlying value of preferable gender characteristics among the students of Belgrade University

AB  - The aim of the study was to analyse preferable gender characteristics based on underlying gender stereotypes among the students from the University of Belgrade. The specific objective was to explore the prescribed value and the structure of those stereotypes. The participants were 261 students (69.7% female) from the University of Belgrade, 55.2% from Departments of social sciences and humanities and 44.8% from Departments of technical sciences, from the first to the fourth year of undergraduate studies. In the first phase of the study, we have used the list of eight pairs of desirable male and female prototypical attributes, and in the second phase, we have used the semantic differential scale for evaluative assessment of those attributes. The results have indicated that typical gender stereotypes are still predominant even in the academic environment. Stereotypes are more pronounced in the male sample than in the female one, i.e. women perceive the sexes as more similar to each other than men do. Both men and women evaluated the desirable 'male' characteristics more positively than 'female' ones, but men valued 'female' characteristics significantly lower than women. We identified four groups of students with different structures of stereotypes. The predominant groups of stereotyping expressed masculinisation of both genders, or clear polarisation based on patriarchal tradition. If we consider students as the important strength for development of gender equality, more efforts should be made for understanding influence and planning policies, and programs targeting gender equality on faculties.
AB  - Istraživanje se bavi analizom preferencija rodnih karakteristika koje se zasnivaju na rodnim stereotipima studenata Beogradskog Univerziteta. Cilj istraživanja je bio da se ispita kakva je struktura ovih stereotipa i koje im se vrednosti pripisuju. Ispitivanje je obavljeno na prigodnom uzorku od 261 studenata (69.7% studentkinja i 30.3% studenata),sve četiri godine os- novnih studije sa različitih fakulteta Beogradskog Univerziteta, od čega je 55.2% iz oblasti društvenih nauka, a 44.8% sa tehničkih fakulteta. U prvom delu ispitivanja, učesnicima je data lista od 8 parova atributa od čega je trebalo da u okviru svakog para obeleže koja je karakteristika povoljnija za muškarce, a koja za žene, pri čemu su iste karakteristike mogle da se odaberu za oba pola. U drugoj fazi ispitivanja, koja je obavljena mesec dana kasnije, svi atributi su procenjivani metodom semantičkog diferencijala u cilju određivanja njihove evaluativne vrednosti. Rezultati su pokazali da tradicionalni rodni stereotipi još uvek dominiraju, čak i u akademskoj sredini. Studentkinje su imale tendenciju da procenjuju poželjne rodne karakteristike kao sličnije za oba pola, dok su studenti percipirali veće razlike među polovima. S druge strane, kada su vrednovali ove atribute, i student i studentkinje su više vrednovali one atribute koje su opažali kao preferirane 'maskuline' karakteristike, ali su studenti vrednovali 'feminine' karakteristike značajno niže u odnosu na studentkinje. Latentnom analizom klasa identifikovane su četiri grupe ispitanika sa različitom strukturom stereotipa, koji se mogu odrediti kao oni sa tradicionalno patrijarhalnom polarizacijom rodnih karakteristika, zatim oni koji teže 'maskulinizaciji' oba pola, oni koji preferiraju 'feminine' karakteristike i konačno, oni koji 'mešaju' poželjne rodne karakterisitke nezavisno od toga na koji se pol odnose. Rezultati generalno pokazuju da su rodni stereotipi raspros- tranjeni i da su prisutni kod studenata oba pola. Ipak, stereo- tipi su više prisutni kod studenata. Dve najzastupljenije grupe stereotipa su one koje zastupaju ili maskulinizaciju oba pola ili polarizaciju polova u skladu sa tradicionalnim patrijarhalnim vrednostima. Ukoliko studente vidimo kao značajnu snagu u razvoju rodne ravnopravnosti, ovi rezultati upućuju na to da više napora treba usmeriti ka razumevanju uticaja univerzitetskih programa na održavanje rodnih stereotipa, kao i ka planiranju politika i programa koji su usmereni na podsticanje rodne ravnopravnosti.

The characteristics of internet addiction adolescents and their families

AB  - The goal of the study was to identify specific personality characteristics of adolescents who have a problem with 'internet addiction', as well as the characteristics of their parents' personalities and of thefunctioning of their families. The sample consisted of 60 adolescents of both genders, agedbetween 15 and18. There were 30'internet addicts' belonging to the clinical group and 30 participants from the general population as the control group. Also, 120 parentswere examined; there were 30 parent couples of eachof the two groups of adolescents. The following measures were used in the research: Young's Internet Addiction Test -IAT, the Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI, the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revisited -TCI-R (for the assessment of parental personality) and the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale -FACES IV.The results indicate that adolescents with internet addiction difficulties exhibit a high degree of impulsiveness, low persistence, and immaturity in the personality domains which regulate responsible, goal-directed and co-operative behaviour. The fathers of adolescents from the clinical group were highly ambitious and less available to their children, while their mothers were more impulsive and prone to change versus continuity, which means that they were also less accessible to their children, albeit in a different way than the fathers. All dimensions associated with the positive aspects of family functioning, such as Cohesiveness, Flexibility, Communication and Satisfaction were lower in the clinical group, while the dimension of Chaotic relations was higher. The results have shownthat the parents of adolescents from the clinical group have formed a specific kindof disengaged and distant parenting style that has resultedin avoiding behaviours of adolescents and their withdrawal into the 'virtual world'. These findings could have a significant role in understanding the originsof internet addiction, planning prevention programs and defining guidelines for effective therapeutic treatment.
AB  - Istraživanje se bavi utvrđivanjem specifičnih dimenzija ličnosti adolescenata 'internet-zavisnika', ličnosti njihovih roditelja i karakteristika porodičnog funkcionisanja s ciljem boljeg razumevanja faktora rizika za razvojovog poremećaja. Uzorak je činilo 60 adolescenata oba pola, uzrasta od 15 do 18 godina, od toga 30 iz kliničke grupe 'internet- zavisnika' i 30 ispitanika kontrolne grupe iz opšte populacije, kao i 120 roditelja, odnosno po 30 parova roditelja obe grupe adolescenata. U istraživanju su primenjeni upitnici za procenu zavisnosti od interneta (Young's Internet Adiction Test - IAT), za procenu ličnosti adolescenata (Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI), ličnosti roditelja (Temperament and Character Inventory-Revisited - TCI-R) i procenu porodičnog funkcionisanja (Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale - FACES IV). Rezultati ukazuju na to da adolescente s problemom zavisnosti od interneta karakteriše visok stepen impulsivnosti i niska istrajnost, kao i nezreli aspekti karaktera koji regulišu odgovorno, ka cilju usmereno i kooperativno ponašanje. Očeviispitanika kliničke grupe imaju značajno više skorove na dimenziji Perzistencije, a majke na dimenziji Potrage za novinama, dok oba roditelja imaju povišene skorove na Self-transcendenciji, što potencijalno ukazuje na to da su manje dostupnisvojoj deci. Sve dimenzije koje se odnose na pozitivne aspekte porodičnog funkcionisanja kliničke grupe niske su prema proceni oba roditelja, dok je negativna dimenzija porodičnog funkcionisanja Haotičnost procenjena kao visoko izražena kod oba roditelja, a Neuključenost samo kod očeva. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na to da roditelji ispitanika kliničke grupe formiraju specifičan oblik dezangažovanog i distanciranog roditeljskog stila, koji rezultira izbegavajućim ponašanjem adolescenata i njihovim povlačenjem u 'virtuelni svet'. Takvi nalazi mogu imati značajnu ulogu u razumevanju nastanka zavisnosti od interneta, u koncipiranju preventivnih programa i definisanju smernica za efikasniji terapijski tretman.

U istraživanju su primenjeni upitnici za procenu zavisnosti od interneta (Young's Internet Adiction Test - IAT), za procenu ličnosti adolescenata (Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI), ličnosti roditelja (Temperament and Character Inventory-Revisited - TCI-R) i procenu porodičnog funkcionisanja (Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale - FACES IV). Rezultati ukazuju na to da adolescente s problemom zavisnosti od interneta karakteriše visok stepen impulsivnosti i niska istrajnost, kao i nezreli aspekti karaktera koji regulišu odgovorno, ka cilju usmereno i kooperativno ponašanje. Očeviispitanika kliničke grupe imaju značajno više skorove na dimenziji Perzistencije, a majke na dimenziji Potrage za novinama, dok oba roditelja imaju povišene skorove na Self-transcendenciji, što potencijalno ukazuje na to da su manje dostupnisvojoj deci. Sve dimenzije koje se odnose na pozitivne aspekte porodičnog funkcionisanja kliničke grupe niske su prema proceni oba roditelja, dok je negativna dimenzija porodičnog funkcionisanja Haotičnost procenjena kao visoko izražena kod oba roditelja, a Neuključenost samo kod očeva. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na to da roditelji ispitanika kliničke grupe formiraju specifičan oblik dezangažovanog i distanciranog roditeljskog stila, koji rezultira izbegavajućim ponašanjem adolescenata i njihovim povlačenjem u 'virtuelni svet'. Takvi nalazi mogu imati značajnu ulogu u razumevanju nastanka zavisnosti od interneta, u koncipiranju preventivnih programa i definisanju smernica za efikasniji terapijski tretman.",

Their assessment is mainly based on interview, observation and projective techniques. Questionnaires, as the self-assessment techniques, apparently are not suitable method for unconscious processes such as defense mechanisms. The paper presents the results of construction of the questionnaire for the assessment of defense mechanisms, abbreviated called MOD (Mechanisms of Defense), which represents an attempt to clarify conceptualization and operationalization of these constructs through a variety of behavioral and emotional manifestations, personal attitudes and beliefs, patterns of interpersonal relationships and feedback from environment. Research objectives included testing of metric characteristics and the factor structure of the questionnaire, as well as its validity for differentiating subjects from clinical and non-clinical populations. The questionnaire has 110 items assessed at the 5-point Likert scale for evaluation of 20 defense mechanisms. The sample consisted of 194 subjects of both sexes, of which 136 students of psychology and social work and 58 nonpsychotic patients from clinical populations. The results showed that the reliability of the scale varies from high to unsatisfactory (Cronbach alpha .82- .35), although for most subscales is around .65-.70. The most of defense mechanisms has one factor structure, whereas from about a third of the subscales two principal components were isolated. Analysis of the structure of mature defense mechanisms clearly derived out four factors corresponding to the presumed mechanisms of defense, while for the groups of neurotic and immature mechanisms were not obtained pure solutions. The questionnaire successfully differentiate clinical from non-clinical sample, based on higher scores on mature and lower scores on immature mechanisms, while the groups did not differ significantly on the neurotic mechanisms. It can be concluded that the questionnaire MOD has the potential to become useful diagnostic instrument for the personality assessment after improvement of some subscales and items.
AB  - Mehanizmi odbrane su psihološki konstrukati od ključnog značaja za procenu ličnosti i planiranje psihoterapijskog procesa. U njihovoj proceni uglavnom se oslanjamo na naturalističke izvore procene i projektivne tehnike, dok upitnici kao samoopisne tehnike kao izvor procene za nesvesne procese kao što su mehanizmi odbrane, naizgled nije pogodan metod. U radu se prikazuju dosadašnji rezultati u procesu konstrukcije upitnika za procenu mehanizama odbrane, skraćeno nazvanog MOD (Mehanizmi Odbrane), koji predstavlja pokušaj jasnije konceptualizacije i operacionalizacije ovih konstrukata, kroz različite bihejvioralne i emocionalne manifestacije, lične stavove i uverenja, obrasce interpersonalnih odnosa i fidbek okoline. Iz većine mehanizama odbrane izdvojena je jedna glavna komponenta, dok su iz približno trećine subskala izdvojene dve glavne komponente. Analiza strukture zrelih mehanizama odbrane jasno je izdvojila četiri faktora koji odgovaraju pretpostavljenim mehanizmima odbrane, dok na nivou tzv. neurotskih i nezrelih mehanizama nisu dobijene čiste solucije. Upitnik je potvrdio da uspešno diferencira klinički od nekliničkog uzorka, na osnovu statistički značajno viših skorova na zrelim, i nižih skorova na nezrelim mehanizama, dok se grupe značajno ne razlikuju na osnovu neurotskih mehanizama. Može zaključiti da upitnik MOD ima potencijal da kroz dodatnu doradu jednog broja skala, postane korisno dijagnostičko sredstvao procene ličnosti.

Belgrade adolescent personality inventory: Bridging the gap between personality assessment in children and adults

AB  - Personality inventories for assessment and study temperament and character of adolescents, an age critical for the finalisation of both normal and pathological mental development, have not been specifically developed. In this paper, we introduce a new personality inventory based on Cloninger's Psychobiological model of personality to assess adolescents from 14 to 18 years of age (the Belgrade Adolescent Personality Inventory - BAPI), which bridges the gap between personality assessment in children and adults. The BAPI is a 46-item Likert scale inventory derived from previous studies using the TCI and JTCI on the Serbian sample. The psychometric properties of the BAPI were tested on the sample of 535 secondary school students in Serbia, aged 15 to 16. In order to assess the fit of the model, the Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed. The differences between sexes were analysed by MANOVA, while the Latent class analysis (LCA) was applied in order to identify different adaptation profiles among adolescents. The BAPI scales had a satisfactory internal consistency (.66 - .80.) considering the small number of items (5-6) in each scale. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) generally supported the main dimensions of temperament and character, as postulated by Cloninger. The only exception was Novelty Seeking, which best fitted a two-factor solution, Explorative curiosity and Impulsivity, separating the 'good' (curious, inquisitive, creative) and 'bad' (impulsive, impatient, disorderly) facets of this trait. Such polarity of Novelty Seeking could be specific for personality development and behaviour disorders in adolescence. The LCA differentiated the personality profiles of well-adapted adolescents from those at risk for maladaptation that manifested low character traits, lack of Persistence and high Novelty seeking Impulsivity subscale. The results support the construct validity of the BAPI and thus provide the basis for its practical application in personality assessment of adolescents and contribute to the theoretical understanding of personality structure and the risk of psychopathology in adolescence.
AB  - S obzirom da postoji nedostatak namenski konstruisanih inventara za procenu i proučavanje ličnosti adolescenata koji su u uzrastu ključnom za završetak kako normalnog, tako i patološkog mentalnog razvoja, u radu je predstavljen novi inventar ličnosti zasnovan na Klonindžerovom Psihobiološkom modelu ličnosti. Beogradski Inventar Ličnosti Adolescenata (BILA) koristi se za procenu adolescenata uzrasta od 14 do 18 godina i trebalo bi da premosti jaz između procene ličnosti kod dece i odraslih. Upitnik obuhvata 46 stavki Likertovog tipa i nastao je na osnovu prethodnih istraživanja u kojima su korišćeni TCI i JTCI na uzorku naših ispitanika. Psihometrijske karakteristike upitnika ispitane su na uzorku od 535 srednjoškolaca iz Srbije, starosti od 15 do 16 godina. Kako bi se utvrdila adekvatnost modela, urađena je konfirmatorna faktorska analiza. U cilju analize polnih razlika korišćena je MANOVA, dok je analiza latentnih klasa primenjena kako bi se utvrdilo da li se mogu izdvojiti specifični profil ličnosti adolescenata iz uzorka iz opšte populacije. Skale upitnika pokazale su zadovoljavajuću internu konzistenciju (.66 - .80), posebno imajući u vidu mali broj stavki (5-6) u svakoj skali. Konfirmatorna faktorska analiza je načelno potvrdila glavne dimenzije temperamenta i karaktera onako kako ih je definisao Klonindžer. Jedini izuzetak je bio u slučaju Potrage za novinama, za koju je podesnije dvofaktorsko rešenje. Potragu za novinama čine Eksplorativna radoznalost i Impulsivnost koie razlikuju 'dobre' (znatiželjan, radoznao, kreativan) i 'loše' (impulsivan, nestrpljiv, haotičan) odlike ove dimenzije. Ovaj polaritet Potrage za novinama mogao bi da bude specifičan za razvoj ličnosti i poremećaja u ponašanju tokom adolescencije. Analizom latentnih klasa utvrđene su razlike između profila ličnosti dobro adaptiranih adolescenata i onih kod kojih postoji rizik za razvoj problema u ponašanju, a koji imaju nizak skor na crtama karaktera, niži stepen Perzistencije i povišenu Impulsivnost. Dobijeni rezultati potvrđuju konstrukt validnost BILA upitnika i što omogućava njegovu praktičnu primenu u proceni ličnosti adolescenata, pružajući doprinos teorijskom razumevanju strukture ličnosti i rizika od psihopatologije u adolescenciji.

AB  - The Psychobiological model of temperament and character proposed by Robert Cloninger has been changed during last two decades according empirical findings and theoretical refinements. The model has had a great influence on the DSM classification of personality disorders. Despite that fact, there are still some unclear conceptual solutions and contradictory empirical data. This paper presents critical analyses of the basic theoretical assumptions and operationalization of the model. The authors discuss the results of structure analyses of the model and the psychometric evaluation of TCI-Rinventory at levels of the two-part system of temperament and character; the seven basic dimension of personality; the inventory sub-scales; and the analysis of individual items.
AB  - Psihobiološki model temperamenta i karaktera Roberta Klonindžera, posle skoro četvrt veka postojanja, pretrpeo je različite kritike i izvesne modifikacije, ali i dalje opstaje kao uticajan model, posebno kada je reč o koncipiranju modela za objašnjenje i procenu poremećaja ličnosti. Otome svedoče i aktuelni pokušaji da se poslednja verzija DSM klasifikacije poremećaja ličnosti zasnuje na ovom modelu. Ovaj rad predstavlja pokušaj kritičke analize zasnovanosti osnovnih teorijskih postulata na osnovu dosadašnjih empirijskih rezultata istraživanja u svetu i našoj sredini. Rad je koncipiran tako da diskutuje rezultate analize strukture modela i psihometrijske karakteristike njegove upitničke operacionalizacije TCI-Rna nivou osnovne podele modela na temperament i karakter, osnovnih dimenzija ličnosti i skala na upitniku koje se na njima zasnivaju, zatim posebnih aspekata ličnosti, odnosno supskala i, konačno, samih ajtema koji reprezentuju njihove bihejvioralne korelate.

Scales for assessment of adolescents with antisocial behavior

AB  - The paper presents and analyse descriptive and metric characteristics as well as applicative potentials of several assessment scales for adolescents with antisocial behaviour. The purpose of scales is to assess personal characteristics of adolescents, their families and peer groups that present the relevant ground for planning, monitoring and evaluation of the effects of social services, mental health and psychological counseling services, schools' programs, etc. The scales were developed through different projects and researches and were empirically checked out in adolescents' population in Serbia. Assessment scales included were: Conflict Tactics Scale (TAKIT), Aggression Self Assessment Scale (SAG), Personal Believes Scale (LUS,) Self-Efficiency Scale (SES) and Peer Group Antisocial Behavior Scale (POKS-R). Almost all scales showed high reliability and predictive validity. Only SES scale showed lower reliability, due to the small number of items and heterogeneity of included aspects of self-efficiency. Considering the importance of self-efficiency in planning and evaluation of treatments of adolescents with antisocial behavior, further modification of the scale is recommended.
AB  - Rad se bavi prikazom i analizom deskriptivnih i metrijskih karakteristika, kao i mogućnostima primene različitih instrumenata za procenu mladih sa antisocijalnim ponašanjem. Instrumenti se bave procenom ličnih karakteristika mladih, njihovih porodica i vršnjačke grupe koje su relevantna osnova za planiranje i praćenje efekata usluga i mera u okviru službi za socijalnu zaštitu, zdravstvenih institucija, psiholoških savetovališta, škola i sl. Oni su razvijani u okviru različitih istraživačkih i aplikativnih projekata i empirijski su provereni na našoj populaciji adolescenata. Obuhvaćeni su sledeći instrumenti procene: Skala konfliktnih taktika TAKIT, Skala samoprocene agresivnosti SAG, Skala ličnih uverenja LUS, Skala samo-efikasnosti SES i Skala prokriminalnog ponašanja neformalne grupe POKS-R. Skoro sve skale su pokazale veoma dobru pouzdanost, i prediktivnu validnost. Jedino je skala SES imala nešto niže metrijske karakteristike, s obzirom na mali broj ajtema i heterogenost aspekata samo-efikasnosti koje obuhvata. Imajući u vidu značaj procene samo-efikasnosti za planiranje i evaluaciju tretmana antisocijalne omladine, potrebno je dalje unaprediti skalu.

Evaluation of the effects programme of integration of young people in conflict with the law

AB  - The paper presents the results of implementation of an integrative programme of treatment of youth in conflict with the law, aimed at their social integration and reduction of antisocial behavior and recidivism. The programme encompassed parallel implementation of 12 family visits and 12 workshops for youth. It included 36 families of young people with behavioral problems and in conflict with the law, from three Belgrade municipalities. The evaluation of treatment was based on the data from evaluative questionnaires for assessment of effects of the treatment filled in by conductors and beneficiaries of the programme, as well as on the basis of differences in results between initial and final assessment on assessment scales (test-retest), obtained from the parents (assessment of adolescent behavior) and adolescent (self-assessment). The results confirmed positive effects of the treatment in the sense of reduction of antisocial behavior of youth, increase of their pro-social skills and improvement of integration into the community. Families showed progress in overcoming the young person's problems and in meeting the needs of its members. An appropriate, relatively short training can train professionals in centers for social work for efficient application of thus designed integrative programme of treatment with young and their families.
AB  - U radu se prikazuju rezultati primene integrativnog programa tretmana za mlade u sukobu sa zakonom, koji ima za cilj njihovu socijalnu integraciju i redukciju antisocijalnog ponašanja i recidivizma Program je uključivao paralelnu primenu 12 poseta porodicama i 12 radionica sa mlade. Obuhvaćeno je 36 porodica mladih sa problemima ponašanja i u sukobu sa zakonom iz tri beogradske opštine Evaluacija tretmana se zasnivala na podacima sa evaluativnih upitnika za procenu efekata tretmana koji su popunjavali realizatori i korisnici programa, kao i na osnovu razlika u rezultatima između početne i završne procene na skalama procene (test-retest), dobijenih od strane roditelja (procena ponašanja adolescenta) i adolescenta (samoprocena). Rezultati su potvrdili pozitivne efekte tretmana u smislu smanjenja antisocijalnog ponašanja mladih, povećanja njihovih prosocijalnih veština i poboljšanja integracije u zajednicu. Porodice su pokazale napredak u prevazilaženju problema mlade osobe i u zadovoljenju potreba svojih članova. Odgovarajuća, relativno kratka obuka može osposobiti profesionalce u centrima za socijalni rad za efikasnu primenu ovako koncipiranog integrativnog programa tretmana sa mladima i njihovim porodicama.

Construction and psychometric checking of adolescent temperament and character inventory ATCI-80

AB  - Introduction: In this paper a new version of a questionnaire for adolescent personality is presented based on Psychobiological model of temperament and character by Robert Cloninger. The model includes four temperament dimensions (Novelty Seeking - NS, Harm Avoidance - HA, Reward Dependence - RD, Persistence - P) and three character dimensions (Self- Directedness - SD, Cooperativeness - C, Self- Transcendence - ST). Beside a TCI for adults older than 18 and JTCI (Junior Temperament and Character Inventory) used for assessment of children between 9 and 13 years of age, ATCI was constructed for assessment of adolescents between 14 and 18 years old. ATCI-80 is based on JTCI form and on the results obtained through ATCI version of 108 items. Aim: The aim of this research is to examine psychometric characteristics of the last ATCI- 80 questionnaire for adolescents in Serbia. Method: The sample consists of 120 examinees, males and females, age 14 - 15, students of the VIII grade of elementary school from Belgrade. Metric characteristics of theoretically presumed scales have been analyzed by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the second order factors are extracted by the application of Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Results: The obtained results are mainly in accordance with the theory for scales NS, HA, P, C and ST, while RD and SD scales did not satisfy minimal psychometrics requirements. Scales reliability assessed by alpha coefficient of internal consistency, points out moderate reliability of the obtained scales and it ranges from .69 to .79. The scales show good convergent and discriminative validity analyzed on the bases of correlations between the retained items and scales as well as on the basis of the correlation between the first grade factors. Conclusion: The findings are leading to the conclusion that the questionnaire has practical value for younger adolescents' personality assessment, but that its metric characteristics should be further improved in terms of adequate item choice and formulation for improving operacionalisation of constructs. Those results also have theoretical implications related to personality structure development during the early adolescence period.
AB  - Uvod: Predstavljena je nova verzija upitnika za procenu ličnosti adolescenata zasnovana na Psihobiološkom modelu temperamenta i karaktera Roberta Klonindžera. Model obuhvata četiri dimenzije temperamenta (Potraga za novinama-NS, Izbegavanje štete HA, Zavisnost od nagrade-RD i Perzistencija-P) i tri dimenzije karaktera (Samousmerenost-SD, Kooperativnost-C, Self-transcendencija-ST). Pored TCI (Temperament and Character Inventory) upitnika namenjenog odraslima iznad 18 godina i JTCI (Junior Temperament and Character Inventory) upitnika za procenu dece uzrasta od 9 do 13 godina, konstruisan je ATCI (Adolescence Temperament and Character Inventory) za procenu adolescenata uzrasta od 14 do 18. ATCI-80 se oslanja na formu JTCI i rezultata dobijenih verzijom ATCI od 108 ajtema. Cilj rada: cilj ovog istraživanja je procena psihometrijskih karakteristika poslednje verzije upitnika ATCI-80 za procenu adolescenata u Srbiji. Metod rada: uzorak obuhvata 120 ispitanika oba pola, uzrasta 14-15 godina učenika VIII razreda osnovne škole iz Beograda. Analizirane su metrijske karakteristike teorijski pretpostavljenih skala na osnovu eksplorativne faktorske analize (EFA), a faktori drugog reda ekstrahovani su primenom analize glavnih komponenti (PCA). Rezultati: dobijeni rezultati su uglavnom konzistentni sa teorijom za skale NS, HA, P, C i ST, dok metrijske karakteristike skala RD i SD nisu zadovoljavajuće. Pouzdanost skala, procenjena alfa koeficijentom interne konzistentnosti, ukazuje na umerenu pouzdanost skala i kreće se 69-79, a skale pokazauju prihvatljivu validnost. Zaključak: nalazi upućuju na zaključak da upitnik ima praktičnu vrednost prilikom procene ličnosti mlađih adolescenata, ali da njegove metrijske karakteristike treba dalje unapređivati. Posebno u odnosu na adekvatniji sadržaj i formulacije ajtema u cilju uspešnije operacionalizacije konstrukata. Takođe ovi rezultati mogu imati i izvesne teorijske implikacije vezane za razvoj strukture ličnosti u ranom adolescentnom periodu.

Beside a TCI for adults older than 18 and JTCI (Junior Temperament and Character Inventory) used for assessment of children between 9 and 13 years of age, ATCI was constructed for assessment of adolescents between 14 and 18 years old. ATCI-80 is based on JTCI form and on the results obtained through ATCI version of 108 items. Aim: The aim of this research is to examine psychometric characteristics of the last ATCI- 80 questionnaire for adolescents in Serbia. Method: The sample consists of 120 examinees, males and females, age 14 - 15, students of the VIII grade of elementary school from Belgrade. Metric characteristics of theoretically presumed scales have been analyzed by Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the second order factors are extracted by the application of Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Results: The obtained results are mainly in accordance with the theory for scales NS, HA, P, C and ST, while RD and SD scales did not satisfy minimal psychometrics requirements. Scales reliability assessed by alpha coefficient of internal consistency, points out moderate reliability of the obtained scales and it ranges from .69 to .79. The scales show good convergent and discriminative validity analyzed on the bases of correlations between the retained items and scales as well as on the basis of the correlation between the first grade factors. Conclusion: The findings are leading to the conclusion that the questionnaire has practical value for younger adolescents' personality assessment, but that its metric characteristics should be further improved in terms of adequate item choice and formulation for improving operacionalisation of constructs. Those results also have theoretical implications related to personality structure development during the early adolescence period., Uvod: Predstavljena je nova verzija upitnika za procenu ličnosti adolescenata zasnovana na Psihobiološkom modelu temperamenta i karaktera Roberta Klonindžera. Model obuhvata četiri dimenzije temperamenta (Potraga za novinama-NS, Izbegavanje štete HA, Zavisnost od nagrade-RD i Perzistencija-P) i tri dimenzije karaktera (Samousmerenost-SD, Kooperativnost-C, Self-transcendencija-ST). Pored TCI (Temperament and Character Inventory) upitnika namenjenog odraslima iznad 18 godina i JTCI (Junior Temperament and Character Inventory) upitnika za procenu dece uzrasta od 9 do 13 godina, konstruisan je ATCI (Adolescence Temperament and Character Inventory) za procenu adolescenata uzrasta od 14 do 18. ATCI-80 se oslanja na formu JTCI i rezultata dobijenih verzijom ATCI od 108 ajtema. Cilj rada: cilj ovog istraživanja je procena psihometrijskih karakteristika poslednje verzije upitnika ATCI-80 za procenu adolescenata u Srbiji. Metod rada: uzorak obuhvata 120 ispitanika oba pola, uzrasta 14-15 godina učenika VIII razreda osnovne škole iz Beograda. Analizirane su metrijske karakteristike teorijski pretpostavljenih skala na osnovu eksplorativne faktorske analize (EFA), a faktori drugog reda ekstrahovani su primenom analize glavnih komponenti (PCA). Rezultati: dobijeni rezultati su uglavnom konzistentni sa teorijom za skale NS, HA, P, C i ST, dok metrijske karakteristike skala RD i SD nisu zadovoljavajuće. Pouzdanost skala, procenjena alfa koeficijentom interne konzistentnosti, ukazuje na umerenu pouzdanost skala i kreće se 69-79, a skale pokazauju prihvatljivu validnost. Zaključak: nalazi upućuju na zaključak da upitnik ima praktičnu vrednost prilikom procene ličnosti mlađih adolescenata, ali da njegove metrijske karakteristike treba dalje unapređivati. Posebno u odnosu na adekvatniji sadržaj i formulacije ajtema u cilju uspešnije operacionalizacije konstrukata. Takođe ovi rezultati mogu imati i izvesne teorijske implikacije vezane za razvoj strukture ličnosti u ranom adolescentnom periodu.",

Evaluation of effects of program for improving skills and motivation for employment

AB  - Contemporary programs that have been implemented in order to help unemployed reduce time for finding a job are based on clear theoretical background and empirical evidence. In addition to providing opportunities to learn necessary skills, these programs also incorporate important psychological components which will be addressed in this paper. The goal of these interventions is to reduce time for finding a job, prevent long-term unemployment and negative effects of unemployment on individuals' mental health. The paper presents evaluation of the effects of these psychological interventions. The program was based on Ajzen's theory of planned behavior (2005), Bandura's social-cognitive theory (1997) and cognitive-behavior theory of behavioral change (Meichenbaum, 1993). The goal of this program was to help unemployed individuals take an active role in finding a job, reduce time for finding a job and prevent negative effects of unemployment on their mental health. The target group of the program were young unemployed individuals ages 19 - 30, with at least high school level of education. Evaluation study was conducted on a sample of 92 male and female individuals who attended 3-day psychological program. Participants filled out five short scales specifically designed to assess variables that were targeted for change, such as, active approach to finding a job, attitudes toward process of employment, self-efficacy and resilience to frustrations and obstacles. Scales were administered before and after the training. Evaluation results, based on these pre and post measures, showed significant positive effects of this program on all five variables.
AB  - Savremeni programi koji se implementiraju sa ciljem da se nezaposlenim osobama pomogne da brže dođu do zaposlenja, zasnovani su na jasnim teorijskim osnovama i empirijskim nalazima. Pored učenja potrebnih veština, ovakvi programi sadrže i značajne psihološke komponente kojima se ovaj rad i bavi. Cilj ovih intervencija je ubrzavanje procesa zapošljavanja, prevencija dugotrajne nezaposlenosti i negativnih efekata nezaposlenosti na mentalno zdravlje. U ovom radu izlažemo evaluaciju efekata psihološkog programa koji je kreiran za primenu na našoj populaciji nezaposlenih. Program je dizajniran na osnovu postavki teorije planiranog ponašanja Ajzena (Ajzen, 2005), socijalno-kognitivne teorije Bandure (Bandura, 1997) i kognitivno-bihejviorale teorije promene ponašanja (Meichenbaum, 1993). Svrha programa je da pomogne nezaposlenim osobama da prepoznaju i preuzmu aktivnu ulogu u traženju posla, čime bi se ubrzao proces zapošljavanja i sprečiti negativne efekte nezaposlenosti na mentalno zdravlje. Ciljna grupa programa bili su mladi nezaposleni, od 19 do 30 godina, sa minimum završenim trećim stepenom stručne spreme. Evaluacija programa je obavljena na uzorku od 92 mlade nezaposlene osobe oba pola koje su prošle trodnevni psihološki program. Ispitanicima je zadato pet kraćih skala samoprocene kreiranih specifično za procenu osnovnih varijabli na čiju je promenu trening usmeren. Ispitivanjem je obuhvaćena procena namere za aktivno traženja posla, stavova o traženju posla, samoefikasnosti i otpornosti na prepreke i osujećenja. Upitnici su zadavani pre i posle treninga, na osnovu čega je utvrđen stepen pozitivnih promena. Rezultati evaluacije koji su prikazani u radu pokazuju značajne pozitivne efekte programa na sve ciljne varijable.

Possibilities and restrictions of the implementation of mediation in domestic violence cases

AB  - This paper presents a model of the implementation of mediation in cases where a power disbalance between partners exists. The model includes relevant theoretical concepts which are important for understanding of violence phenomenon in the family, and the contemporary approaches to the work on balancing unequal power in relationships. In creating the model of family mediation in cases including violence, some basic concepts of mediation procedures are modified or adjusted (neutrality, confidentiality), as well as the concept of circular causality and complementary relationships from a systemic perspective. Implementation of interdisciplinary approach is proposed for efficient work on balancing the power in relations and using various working domains. The confession of violent behavior and the acceptance of personal responsibility by the offender, and the readiness of both sides to take part in restoration of a relationship are basic principles of restorative justice that is fundamental for victim- offender mediation. Therefore, those conditions are also necessary for a family mediation in cases including elements of violence, if the security for the victim is provided and guaranteed.
AB  - U radu je predstavljen model primene medijacije u slučajevima gde postoji veliki disbalans u moći između partnera/ članova porodice. Model je povezan sa relevantnim teorijskim konceptima značajnim za razumevanje fenomena nasilja u porodici i savremenim pristupima u radu na balansiranju nejednake moći u odnosima. U koncipiranju modela porodične medijacije u radu sa nasiljem prilagođeni su neki od osnovnih principa postupka medijacije (neutralnost, poverljivost) i sistemske porodične terapije (komplementarnost u odnosima, tj. cirkularna uzročnost). U radu je predložen model rada koji podrazumeva interdisciplinarni okvir i upotrebu različitih domena delovanja. Priznanje nasilnog ponašanja i prihvatanje odgovornosti za njega od strane počinioca, uz spremnost obe strane da se učestvuje u restauraciji odnosa, su ujedno osnovni principi restorativne pravde na kojima se zasniva medijacija između žrtve i učinioca, te su neophodni preduslovi za primenu medijacije i u porodičnim odnosima gde ima elemenata nasilja, ukoliko je obezbeđena i garantovana dalja bezbednost žrtve porodičnog nasilja.

Optimus: Optimal approach to prevention of conflict with the law of children and youth

AB  - Based on current scientific researches, effective world practices, legal regulations in social protection and juvenile justice area and needs and possibilities of social protection in Serbia, preventive programme 'OPTIMUS - Optimal Approach to Treatment and Integration of Youth in Conflict with the Community' has been developed. The programme aims is to decrease antisocial behaviour, improve personal capacities and social competences and better integration into community of children and with behavioural problems. It is appropriate for treatment of children and adolescents with more serious antisocial behaviour and from multiproblem families, but who doesn't have persistent forms of antisocial behaviour, severe mental disorders or substance dependence. Programme includes three forms of community treatment: workshops with youth, workshops with parents and family visits. Workshops with youth and family visits were implemented in practice and evaluated. Into treatment were included 36 male adolescents from 14 to 19 years of age and their families from three Belgrade municipalities. Evaluation by programme users and implementers showed that adolescents were better integrated into community, while families showed improvement in overcoming adolescent's problems and fulfillment of family members' needs. Results of retest by scales of Socialization by Momirovic et all, completed by adolescents, and Child Behaviour Checklist by Achenbach, completed by parents, showed decrease of antisocial behavior and increase of prosocial skills.
AB  - Na osnovu savremenih naučnih saznanja, efikasnih praksi u svetu, važećih regulativa u oblasti socijalne zaštite i pravosuđa, kao i potreba i mogućnosti socijalne zaštite u Srbiji, razvijen je preventivni program 'OPTIMUS - obuhvatan pristup tretmanu i integraciji mladih u sukobu sa zajednicom'. Program ima za cilj smanjenje antisocijalnog ponašanja, unapređenje ličnih kapaciteta i socijalnih kompetencija i bolju integraciju u zajednicu dece i mladih sa problemima ponašanja. Primenljiv je za tretman dece i mladih sa ozbiljnijim oblicima antisocijalnog ponašanja i iz multiproblemskih porodica i, ali koja nemaju perzistentne i teške forme antisocijalnog ponašanja, teže mentalne poremećaje ili bolesti zavisnosti. Program obuhvata tri forme tretmana u lokalnoj zajednici: radionice za mlade, radionice za roditelje i posete porodicama. Radionice za mlade i posete porodicama su paralelno već primenjene u praksi i evaluirane. U program je bilo uključeno 36 adolescenata muškog pola uzrasta 14-19 godina i njihovih porodica iz tri beogradske opštine. Evaluacija od strane korisnika i realizatora programa pokazala je da su mladi bili bolje integrisani u zajednicu, dok su porodice pokazale napredak u prevazilaženju problema mladih i u zadovoljenju potreba svojih članova. Rezultati retesta baterijom skala Socijalizacije Momirovića i saradnika, popunjenom od strane adolescenta, i Listom ponašanja deteta Ahenbaha (CBCL), popunjenom od strane roditelja, pokazali su da je došlo do smanjenja antisocijalnog ponašanja i povećanja prosocijalnih veština.

Program ima za cilj smanjenje antisocijalnog ponašanja, unapređenje ličnih kapaciteta i socijalnih kompetencija i bolju integraciju u zajednicu dece i mladih sa problemima ponašanja. Primenljiv je za tretman dece i mladih sa ozbiljnijim oblicima antisocijalnog ponašanja i iz multiproblemskih porodica i, ali koja nemaju perzistentne i teške forme antisocijalnog ponašanja, teže mentalne poremećaje ili bolesti zavisnosti. Program obuhvata tri forme tretmana u lokalnoj zajednici: radionice za mlade, radionice za roditelje i posete porodicama. Radionice za mlade i posete porodicama su paralelno već primenjene u praksi i evaluirane. U program je bilo uključeno 36 adolescenata muškog pola uzrasta 14-19 godina i njihovih porodica iz tri beogradske opštine. Evaluacija od strane korisnika i realizatora programa pokazala je da su mladi bili bolje integrisani u zajednicu, dok su porodice pokazale napredak u prevazilaženju problema mladih i u zadovoljenju potreba svojih članova. Rezultati retesta baterijom skala Socijalizacije Momirovića i saradnika, popunjenom od strane adolescenta, i Listom ponašanja deteta Ahenbaha (CBCL), popunjenom od strane roditelja, pokazali su da je došlo do smanjenja antisocijalnog ponašanja i povećanja prosocijalnih veština.",

AB  - This text presents the results of the research about the attitudes on gender equality within the higher education system in Serbia. The research is a part of the on going project on 'The policies of gender equality: education as a key parameter of gender equality in Serbia'. The results are based on the data gathered through particular questionnaires aimed to study the attitudes of students and teaching staff on the professional roles, family and partnership, feminism, as well as gender stereotypes. The results point to the fact that there are stereotypes with­in the academia, stereotypes concerning gender roles supported both by male and female academic population; however, the fact that the stereotypes and traditional gender roles are supported more by the younger than in older generation merits special attention.
AB  - U radu se prikazuju rezultati istraživanja stavova prema rodnoj ravnopravnosti u sistemu visokoškolskog obrazovanja u Srbiji u okviru projekta Politike rodne ravnopravnosti: obrazovanje kao pokazatelj rodne ravnopravnosti u Srbiji. Na osnovu posebno konstruisanog upitnika, prema ciljevima istraživanja, ispitivani su stavovi studentske i nastavničke populacije oba pola o profesionalnim ulogama, porodičnim i partnerskim odnosima, ulogama u javnoj delatnosti, odnos prema feminizmu, kao i prototipske slike rodnih karakteristika. Rezultati analize upućuju na to da su u našoj akademskoj sredini još uvek prisutni stereotipi u pogledu rodnih uloga, da ih podržavaju i žene i muškarci, ali ono što zaslužuje posebnu pažnju jeste to da se stereotipne i tradicionalne rodne uloge u većoj meri registruju u mlađoj nego u starijoj generaciji.

AB  - The paper presents the results of evaluation study which pertained to estimation of effects of teaching of Civil Education. The evaluation was carried out on representative sample of pupils and teachers in elementary and secondary schools in Serbia. Considering that eight years passed since the introduction of this course to schools, a need emerged for evaluation of quality of contents and methods of teaching, as well as for check of its effects on the level of knowledge and general political culture of pupils. The basic goal of the study was to formulate empirically-based recommendations deriving from the obtained results, for further improvement of the program and the manner of its realization in the schools in Serbia.
AB  - U radu su prikazani rezultati evaluativne studije koja se odnosila na procenu efekata nastave iz Građanskog vaspitanja. Evaluacija je izvršena na reprezentativnom uzorku učenika i nastavnika osnovnih i srednjih škola u Srbiji. S obzirom da je proteklo osam godina od uvođenja ovog predmeta u škole, ukazala se potreba za evaluacijom kvaliteta sadržaja i metoda nastave kao i proverom njegovih efekata na nivo znanja i opšte političke kulture učenika. Osnovni cilj studije je bio da se na osnovu dobijenih rezultata formulišu empirijski zasnovane preporuke za dalje unapređenje programa i načina njegove realizacije u školama u Srbiju.

AB  - The research presented here is a part of an ongoing and a more extensive project to gather data and analyze the status of gender equality within educational system in Serbia. This part of the research is concerned with attitudes toward gender equality within the higher education system and as a point of departure uses an assumption that higher education has in establishing value systems far reaching consequences for the whole society and its future. The research is based on questionnaires through which the following data has been gathered: attitudes to motivation for the choice of field of study and profession, roles in the family, partner roles, feminism. The conclusions point to the fact that the gender roles are not too rigid and stereotypical but point out to some attitudes that need to be further explored, namely young men appear to be less conservative, than young women.
AB  - Tekst prikazuje rezultate istraživanja stavova prema rodnoj ravnopravnosti u sistemu visokoškolskog obrazovanja u Srbiji i deo je projekta Politike rodne ravnopravnosti: obrazovanje kao pokazatelj rodne ravnopravnosti u Srbiji. Cross cultural comparison of JTCI inventory of temperament and character scores of 11-13 year olds

AB  - The study compares characteristics of Serbian and American children on the dimensions of temperament and character on the Junior TCI (JTCI) for assessment of 9 to 13 year olds - based on Robert Cloninger’s Psychobiological model of temperament and character. Given the lack of assessment tools for this age group, the goal of the present study was to test the factor structure and main psychometric characteristics of the JTCI in order to determine the applicability of this questionnaire on Serbian children. The sample consisted of 222 boys and girls from the normal population, ages 11 to 13 and who attended grades 6 to 8. The results showed significant differences between Serbian and American sample. Namely, Serbian children had higher scores on the Novelty seeking and Harm Avoidance and lower scores on Reward Dependence and Persistency. As to the Character Dimensions, Serbian children had lower scores on Reward dependence and persistency, and significantly lower on Self-directedness and Cooperativeness. Scores on the Self-transcendence were higher among the Serbian children. The differences on Character dimensions between children from different cultures suppose to be primarily a result of the socialization process. They reflect a lower level of maturity, cooperation and probably compensatory reliance on the religion. Although it is a temperament dimension, being prone to negative emotions (higher scores on Danger avoidance) may also be a result of a situational sensitivity. This result could be interpreted as a reflection of the negative effects that the general socio cultural milieu had on the children who grew up during the social crisis and transitional periods of our society. The result did not confirm a seven factor personality structure of children in this age group. It is likely that at the age of 11 to 13, dimensions of character and temperament did not yet clearly differentiate. Finally, poor reliability of the JTCI scales imposes limitations on valid interpretation of these results. It also points out that using this questionnaire on Serbian children is limited unless necessary psychometric modification is conducted.
AB  - Cilj istraživanja je provera faktorske strukture i osnovnih psihometrijskih karakteristika JTCI (baziranom na pretpostavkama Psihobiološkog modela temperamenta i karaktera Roberta Klonindžera) radi provere mogućnosti korišćenja ovog upitnika za procenu dece. Ispitivanje je obavljeno na uzorku od 222 dece starosti od 11 do 13 godina oba pola. Obuhvaćena su deca iz normalne populacije, od 6-8 razreda osnovne škole. Rezultati su pokazali značajne razlike između srpske i američke populacije koje se manifestuju u vidu povišenih skorova na dimenzijama temperamenta Potraga za novinama i Izbegavanja opasnosti, a sniženih skorova na Zavisnosti od nagrade i Perzistenciji, kao i na značajno sniženim skorovima na dimenzijama karaktera Samousmerenosti i Kooperativnosti, a povišenim na Self-transcendenciji na našem uzorku. Razlike između dece iz dve kulture na dimenzijama karaktera bi mogle biti prevashodno pod uticajem procesa socijalizacije i odražavaju niži nivo zrelosti, saradnje i verovatno kompenzatorno okretanje religioznim vrednostima. Sklonost negativnim emocijama (povišeni skorovi na Izbegavanju opasnosti), iako pripada dimenziji temperamenta, takođe može biti posledica situacione osetljivosti ove dimenzije. Rezultati se mogu interpretirati kao posledica negativnog delovanja nepovoljnih opštih socio-kulturnih uticaja tokom razvojnog perioda dece iz naše sredine koja su odrastala u toku kriznog i tranzicionog perioda u društvu. Rezultati nisu potvrdili jasnu sedmofaktorsku strukturu ličnosti dece ovog uzrasta. Konačno, slaba pouzdanost skala JTCI upitnika ograničava mogućnosti validne interpretacije rezultata, ali istovremeno ukazuje i na ograničenje korišćenja upitnika na našoj populaciji bez neophodnih psihometrijskih modifikacija.

Finally, poor reliability of the JTCI scales imposes limitations on valid interpretation of these results. It also points out that using this questionnaire on Serbian children is limited unless necessary psychometric modification is conducted., Cilj istraživanja je provera faktorske strukture i osnovnih psihometrijskih karakteristika JTCI (baziranom na pretpostavkama Psihobiološkog modela temperamenta i karaktera Roberta Klonindžera) radi provere mogućnosti korišćenja ovog upitnika za procenu dece. Ispitivanje je obavljeno na uzorku od 222 dece starosti od 11 do 13 godina oba pola. Obuhvaćena su deca iz normalne populacije, od 6-8 razreda osnovne škole. Rezultati su pokazali značajne razlike između srpske i američke populacije koje se manifestuju u vidu povišenih skorova na dimenzijama temperamenta Potraga za novinama i Izbegavanja opasnosti, a sniženih skorova na Zavisnosti od nagrade i Perzistenciji, kao i na značajno sniženim skorovima na dimenzijama karaktera Samousmerenosti i Kooperativnosti, a povišenim na Self-transcendenciji na našem uzorku. Razlike između dece iz dve kulture na dimenzijama karaktera bi mogle biti prevashodno pod uticajem procesa socijalizacije i odražavaju niži nivo zrelosti, saradnje i verovatno kompenzatorno okretanje religioznim vrednostima. Sklonost negativnim emocijama (povišeni skorovi na Izbegavanju opasnosti), iako pripada dimenziji temperamenta, takođe može biti posledica situacione osetljivosti ove dimenzije. Rezultati se mogu interpretirati kao posledica negativnog delovanja nepovoljnih opštih socio-kulturnih uticaja tokom razvojnog perioda dece iz naše sredine koja su odrastala u toku kriznog i tranzicionog perioda u društvu. Rezultati nisu potvrdili jasnu sedmofaktorsku strukturu ličnosti dece ovog uzrasta. Konačno, slaba pouzdanost skala JTCI upitnika ograničava mogućnosti validne interpretacije rezultata, ali istovremeno ukazuje i na ograničenje korišćenja upitnika na našoj populaciji bez neophodnih psihometrijskih modifikacija.",

Psychobiological model of temperament and character: Validation and cross-cultural comparations

AB  - The paper presents research results regarding Psychobiological model of personality by Robert Cloninger. The primary research goal was to test the new TCI-5 inventory and compare our results with US normative data. We also analyzed the factor structure of the model and the reliability of basic TCI-5 scales and sub-scales. The sample consisted of 473 subjects from the normal population, age range between 18-50 years. Results showed significant differences between Serbian and American samples. Compared to the American sample, Novelty seeking was higher in the Serbian sample, while Persistence Self-directedness and Cooperativeness were lower. For the most part results of the present study confirmed a seven factor structure model although some sub-scales did not coincide with basic dimensions as predicted by the theoretical model. Therefore certain theoretical revisions of the model are required in order to fit in the empirical findings. Similarly, the discrepancy between the theoretical and empirical was also noticed regarding the reliability of TCI-5 scales. They also need to be re-examined. Thus the results of the study showed satisfactory reliability of Persistence (.90), Self-directedness (.89) and Harm avoidance (.87), but low reliability of the Novelty seeking (.78), Reward dependence (.79) and Self-transcendence (.78).

Osnovni ciljevi istraživanja su bili provera faktorske strukture modela komparacija podataka dobijenih na našem uzorku sa američkim normama, kao i provera pouzdanosti osnovnih skala i sub-skala TCI-5-a. Ispitivanjem je obuhvaćen uzorak od 473 ispitanika iz normalne populacije u Srbiji, uzrasta od 18-50 godina. AB  - The study presents theoretical and empirical comparison of the three indexes in Rorschach Comprehensive System that were developed for psychotic functioning assessment: the Schizophrenia Index (SCZI), the Ego Impairment Index (EII) and the Perceptual Thinking Index (PTI). In spite of the conceptual and nominal differences, these indexes significantly overlap and includes common indicators. The study compared a discrimination value of these three indexes, as well as and theirs indicators and based on the obtained results, tried to formulate a new index as a composite of the best predictors.
AB  - Istraživanje predstavlja teorijsku i empirijsku komparaciju tri indeksa za procenu psihotičnog funkcionisanja sa Rorschach testa. To su Indeks shizofrenije (SCZI), Indeks Ego oštećenja (EII) i novi Indeks percepcije i mišljenja (PTI). Uprkos razlikama u nazivu, kao i razlikama u konceptualnim polazištima, ovi indeksi se značajno preklapaju jer uključuju slične indikatore. Istraživanje je imalo za cilj da ispita diskriminativnu vrednost ovih indeksa i njihovih pojedinačnih indikatora, kao i da na osnovu dobijenih rezultata formira novi indeks koji uključuje indikatore sa najboljom diskriminativnom vrednošću.

AB  - The standardization of procedures and services in social work centers implies the establishment of basic rules which reflect the value, quality and quantity characteristics of professional procedures and services. In the social work centers as the basic services of social care, the standardization is based on the harmonization of models of skilled work with the contemporary trends in the human rights and rights of child field and the knowledge of the efficient ways of giving aid and support. The different classifications of standards light up the individual relevant aspects of the standardization field. Just like every other map, it does not represent a list of various fields only, it rather represents their mutual relations. We have presented this map in form of a development scheme (tree) of the standardization process construction. In the attempt to create a development tree we've been led by various dimensions such as different types and levels of the standard's generality, various fields and institutions of social care where they are applied, as well as standards components necessary for their practical implementation.
AB  - Razvojno stablo standarda nudi šematski prikaz osnovnih principa i oblasti koje podležu procesu standardizacije. Nastojali smo da šema bude dovoljno obuhvatna da je primenljiva na različite oblasti delatnosti socijalne zaštite, ali je potrebno naglasiti neke zaključne napomene. Prvo proces standardizacije ne može, a i ne treba da obuhvati sve potencijalne slučajeve do najspecifičnijih detalja. On mora podrazumevati određeni nivo opštosti koji obezbeđuje fleksibilnost, jer svako sužavanje može potencijalno prerasti u kontraproduktivno zatvaranje pred alternativnim rešenjima. Drugo, ponuđena šema nema pretenzije da bude u potpunosti iscrpna i obuhvatna, tako da predstavlja samo jednu od mogućih šema i može se dalje razvijati, menjati, proširivati ili produbljivati. Teškoće određivanja jedinstvenog klasifikatornog sistema su univerzalni nedostatak svih humanističkih disciplina, tako da se klasifikacije mogu shvatiti samo kao aproksimacije koje vode ka mogućnosti sagledavanja pojava i na drugačiji, alternativan način. Konačno, kako je ovaj rad segment projekta Razvoj standarda stručnog rada u centrima za socijalni rad, potrebno je naglasiti da se naše područje delatnosti ograničava na oblast socijalne zaštite dece u okvirima usluga centara za socijalni rad, sa težištem na razradi procesa vođenja slučaja u okviru standarda procesa i ishoda, kroz šta se neizostavno prepliću i svi drugi aspekti delatnosti. Zbog toga nam je bilo važno da, fokusiranjem na jedan segment rada, ne previdimo ostale oblasti i faktore koji nam mogu predstavljati prepreke ili olakšice u ovom procesu.
