Jihad as an instrument of Islam in attaining its goals

Abstract

The author explains that the frequently used term of jihad is, by the teachings of Islam, and by its basic source Koran, one of the most significant principles of that religion. Within this frame he gives a synthesized definition of the Islamic fundamentalism, whose goal is to islamize the entire world, by application of jihad as its basic instrument. in his analysis of the role of jihad the author explains that jihad is a much wider notion than a war, as it is most usually interpreted, and that it is fundamentally a system of all individual and collective actions and activities undertaken by the Moslems with the aim of strengthening the Islamic religion and the Islamic community of the faithfuls. Jihad is therefore each act or action that contributes to the victory of Islam, and thus also the classical war, i.e. the armed struggle.

Autor u tekstu objašnjava da je često korišćeni pojam džihad, prema učenju islama i njegovom osnovnom izvoru Kuranu, jedan od najvažnijih principa te religije. U okviru toga, daje sintetizovanu definiciju islamskog fundamentalizma, čiji je cilj islamizacija sveta, a džihad - osnovno sredstvo. Analizirajući ulogu džihada, autor objašnjava da je to mnogo širi pojam od rata, kako se taj termin najčešće prevodi, i daje, u osnovi, džihad sistem svih akcija i postupaka na individualnom i kolektivnom planu koje muslimani preduzimaju radi jačanja islamske religije i islamske zajednice vernika. Otuda je džihad svaki akt koji doprinosi pobedi islama, pa i klasični rat, odnosno oružana borba.
