Abstract
The ancient wisdom of the theological teaching contained in the Catechism the ethical guidance of the Orthodox Christians, written in the form of questions asked and the respective answers given, is a precious source of the deontological paradigms for the social work theory and practice. From the abundance of anticipations or the ready ethical forms of the exceptional significance for the science of social work, the attention is given to the grandest of the biblical Ten Commandments - the ethical 'Love thy Neighbor', imperative - as the foundation of the humanness and social work which are in the close relation with the arts of the bodily as well as those of spiritual grace. To outgrow oneself through acceptance of any other man as one's neighbor is practically carried out in every day life and social work through the performance of ethical duties such as 'feed the hungry', 'give water to the thirsty', 'give clothes to the ragged and barefoot' or further more through passing on one's k...nowledge, giving good advice and correcting the sinners or pardoning their sins.
