Abstract
The article presents the key-goals of the reforms in the Serbian social protection system that were motivated by the decentralization and deinstitutionalization of the previously highly centralized system. It also analyses a new Strategy of the Social Protection Development introduced in 2005. The main tasks are an active promoting of social cohesion and the European integration of Serbia. The integral part of this Strategy is provision of mechanism and arrangements of appriopriate, cost-effective and implementation of established rights.
