Prosvetiteljstvo Svetog Save

Abstract

Protivstavljajući Sv. Savu i Dositeja Obradovića kao dva paradigmatska lika srpske kulture, autor nastoji ne samo da pojasni razliku između srednjovekovnog i modernog prosvetiteljstva nego i da reafirmiše Sv. Savu kao najvećeg srpskog prosvetitelja. U tom nastojanju on se oslanja na radove Sv. Justina Ćelijskog i Vladimira Vujića, u kojima su ponuđeni uverljivi argumenti za primat svetosavskog prosvetiteljstva nad dositejskim. Da bi srpski narod uspeo da sačuva svoj verski i nacionalni identitet, neophodno je da odustane od sleđenja zapadnoevropskog prosvetiteljstva i vrati se izvornijem svetosavskom prosvetiteljstvu. Inače će umesto da sledi Hrista okrenuti leđa Hristu, sa svim pogubnim posledicama takve odluke.

By contrasting Saint Sava and Dositej Obradovic as two paradigmatic characters in Serbian culture, the author aims not only to explain the difference between medieval and modern Enlightenment, but also to reaffirm Saint Sava as the greatest Serbian luminary. In that endeavour, he relies on works of Saint Justin of Ćelije and Vladimir Vujić, who offer cogent arguments for primacy of Saint Sava’s Enlightenment over Dositej’s. In order for the Serbian people to keep their religious and national identity, it is necessary to forbear the following of West European Enlightenment and return to the more genuine Saint Sava’s Enlightenment. Should they fail to do that, instead of following Christ, they will turn their back on Christ, facing all destructive consequences of such decision.
